How might we make music, our loyal studying companion, study better?
A Consistent Pattern
Students often find themselves in stressful positions. When a deadline is coming up, the pressure is on to finish the assignment as soon as possible. Some students tend to listen to music in order to distract themselves from any outside noise. In my case, I find myself putting my headphones on and focus on the assignments I have to get done. This leaves students feeling burnt out. We leave everything behind to finish an assignment but at the cost of our wellbeing
Did you know
I created a user journey map while I was doing my assignment which was due on the same day. I noted down my actions as well as how I was feeling in the moment of those actions. I found myself disregarding meals, break times, back and stomach ache, all at a cost of finishing my assignment
What problems were found?
No time moderation
As music keeps playing, time passes. There is no indication of how much time you've been working or studying
Therefore, no breaks
High stress and anxiety to finish the assignment takes over hence, no feeling of deserving a break unless you finish the assignment
Focus is misused
There is a higher chance of drifting from your desired assignment
You were seeking complete focus without any external distraction,
What was the only thing that was with you throughout this long period of time? Your only companion?
Music
